The REMEDi4ALL project aims to develop a standardised methodology to assess project value for repurposed medicines. This task is essential as conventional evaluation strategies for new molecular entities are often not appropriate (they do not capture all aspects of short and long-term value) to apply to repurposed medicines. Furthermore, there is a lack of broadly accepted methods for assigning quantifiable values to patient and societal benefit.

 

This lack of standardised approach can be a major barrier to establishing a partnership or collaboration to enhance drug repurposing projects. Therefore, the framework could not only help to evaluate and justify R&D funding decisions at an earlier stage, but could also contribute in bridging discrepancies in value assessment across different stakeholders.
