What is the REMEDi4ALL Repurposing Bootcamp for patient representatives?
The REMEDi4ALL Repurposing Bootcamp is a specialised training programme designed to empower patient representatives with the essential knowledge and tools to drive innovation through drug repurposing. Our mission is to equip you with the skills and expertise needed to lead efforts in identifying and promoting new therapeutic uses for existing drugs, ultimately improving access to effective treatments and transforming patient care.
Our training programme will offer a comprehensive learning experience through a blend of in-person lectures, workshops and discussions supported by virtual training materials that will be available soon in our digital academy. Our live programme will cover key aspects of drug repurposing, including regulatory pathways, clinical trials, and patient engagement strategies all curated to ensure maximum relevance to patient group leaders.
Join us for the in-person repurposing bootcamp for patient representatives
As part of our learning experience, we offer an in-person bootcamp for patient representatives held back-to-back with EURORDIS Open Academy x ERDERA Schools 2027. For those interested, it is possible to apply to both trainings although please note that applications should be sent in separately.
The one and a half day training begins at 2 pm on Thursday, 10 June and will end on Friday 11 June 2027. It will be held at the Hotel SB Barcelona events in Castelldefels, Barcelona.

The Bootcamp is targeted to patient representatives affiliated to a patient organisation based in the EU and UK, who are willing to delve into the drug repurposing realm.
The ideal candidate:
- Has a good level of English
- Has an understanding of the drug development process
- Has strong interest in in upskilling themselves into relevant drug repurposing topics
- Is willing to engage in collaborative learning experiences, stimulating discussions and networking opportunities with other stakeholders involved in the drug repurposing field
- Is eager to apply the knowledge gained in drug repurposing, bringing valuable insights and expertise back to their organisation
Our training is structured around five core themes to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills needed for effective drug repurposing:
Introduction to Repurposing and Finding a Repurposing Concept
Learn the fundamentals of drug repurposing, the key stages of the development pathway and the central role of patients throughout the process. Explore the REMEDi4ALL patient-centred approach and the different methods used to identify repurposing opportunities, including library screenings, natural language processing and –omic approaches.

Supporting and Engaging in Repurposing Projects
Learn how patient groups can become active partners in drug repurposing projects, from preclinical research through to approval and reimbursement. Explore the different contributions patient communities can make beyond funding including providing insights, shaping research priorities, supporting collaboration and helping projects deliver meaningful patient impact.

Developing a Repurposing Strategy from Concept to Patient
Learn how to create a comprehensive strategy for advancing repurposed drugs from initial concept to patient access. This includes understanding the prerequisites before starting a repurposing project, navigating key concepts such as on-label versus off-label use and generics, developing a Target Product Profile (TPP), and avoiding common pitfalls in the drug repurposing process. Gain insights into assembling the right team to effectively advance your repurposing project.
