
Dr. Olanisun Adewole MBBS, FMCP, MD is a Professor of Medicine and Consultant Physician and Respirology at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, and Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals, Ile Ife, Nigeria. He is a social innovator, clinical research leader and an educator. He has a long-lasting research focus in respiratory medicine and tuberculosis with a particular emphasis on diagnosis, treatment, and policy in tuberculosis. He has led numerous clinical trials aimed at improving TB diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Adewole has been recognized for his leadership and innovation. He was named as one of the top10nominees for the Africa Innovation Prize in 2017. He is passionate that the outcomes of Phases I and II clinical trials investigating adding atorvastatin, a common lipid-lowering drug, to enhance therapeutic treatment of tuberculosis will be translated from the bench to the bedside and the broader community to make a global impact.
