Hugh set up The EHE Rare Cancer Charity in the UK in 2015 and is a passionate advocate of the EHE cause, driven by his wife being diagnosed with this ultra-rare sarcoma in 2005. Hugh brings significant drive and organisational skills to the charity, backed up by more than 40 years of corporate experience and operations, including governance and statutory reporting requirements, in the international energy industry. The charity has raised over £1,000,000 pounds to date for EHE research. The charity funded the establishment of the UK National EHE Biobank, has funded multi-year research projects at the Universities of Manchester and Sheffield, and has funded a pan-European EHE research collaboration, led by INT in Milan, including the setting up of the world’s first ever prospective observational registry of EHE,.
