Johanna has a background in synthetic organic chemistry, specifically in the chemistry of carbohydrates and nucleotides. During her combined PostDoc at Hamburg University (Germany) and the Rega Institute for Medical Research at KU Leuven (Belgium), she combined chemical and in vitro biological studies
in the field of broad-spectrum antivirals. Her contributions have been recognized with several early career awards. Johanna continues her work at the interface of chemistry and biology in her current position at Fraunhofer ITMP where she’s building an integrated screening and knowledge platform for the discovery of molecular degraders.
