Maddalena Fratelli is a biologist by training and became interested in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology with the advent of the genomic era. She spent most of her career at the Mario Negri Institute, where she holds the position of Head of the Pharmacogenomics Unit. She has used genomic and transcriptomic systems for the study of drug action, drug sensitivity or resistance, and drug repurposing, with particular reference to the field of oncology. Her group is characterized by both biomedical and computational knowledge, and a capacity to work in interdisciplinary contexts.
