Martine Lamfers leads the Neurosurgery Lab at Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam, focusing on developing novel treatments for malignant brain tumors using innovative patient-derived model systems. She has established a drug development pipeline encompassing biobanking of patient tissue and cells, in vitro drug screening in 2D and 3D models, molecular and bioinformatic analysis, and clinical data integration. Her research explores both repurposed and novel drugs, with a strong emphasis on translational research. A key goal is to use patient-derived models to predict therapy response and guide personalised treatment selection, with the ultimate aim of translating this approach to clinical trials of personalised drug screening in patients.
