Vincent A. Verheij

Vincent is a physician at the Amsterdam University Medical Center where he is part of the clinical research team of the Amsterdam Bone Center. As a PhD candidate he is one of the lead investigators on their clinical trials, primarily focusing on Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), an extremely rare bone disease. Their research involves evaluation of new treatments for rare bone diseases such as Osteogenesis Imperfecta and Fibrous Dysplasia but in particular FOP, for which there is no globally available treatment yet.

Vincent graduated medical school in 2017 from the VU University in Amsterdam. During his rotations he spent time in rural South Africa and did a research fellowship in the Emergency Department (ED) of the Harvard affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Subsequently, he worked as a foundation doctor in the greater Amsterdam area on different Intensive Care Units and EDs and he is pursuing specialty training in internal medicine for a career in critical care medicine
