The official launch of the REMEDi4ALL Digital Academy was accompanied by a webinar held by Beacon for Rare Diseases and EURORDIS Rare Disease Europe. The lunchtime webinar saw almost 100 live attendees from over 20 countries join the REMEDi4ALL training team to learn more about the Digital Academy.
“Drug repurposing offers great potential, but the ecosystem remains fragmented.”
Alicia Soler (EATRIS) kicked off the webinar by describing the potential of drug repurposing and what REMEDi4ALL is doing to help realise this potential. REMEDi4ALL is building a multi-stakeholder patient-centric platform to support repurposing projects through the entire repurposing journey to ensure that drugs are repurposed to maximise patient benefit and access to new treatments.

Next, Rick Thompson (Beacon for Rare Diseases) outlined the need for a digital learning resource that encompassed the drug repurposing pathway. By bringing together these stages in a unique platform, the digital academy provides accessible training resources that promote increased knowledge and awareness of the drug repurposing pathway and, ultimately, lead to more patient-centred drug repurposing projects.

Gabriel Ortega (Beacon for Rare Diseases) gave us an overview of how to access and get started with the REMEDi4ALL Digital Academy, built on 7 core modules related to different stages in the drug repurposing pathway and 4 foundational modules essential for successful drug repurposing.

Finally, we looked to the future of the Digital Academy and the aim to evolve the platform based on valuable user feedback. We outlined the patient-centric repurposing philosophy of REMEDi4ALL, bringing together diverse stakeholders to develop robust, patient-centred repurposing projects with a clear route to patient access.
