The REMEDi4ALL consortium gathered in Hamburg on 8-9 October 2026 for its fifth General Assembly Meeting (GAM#5), bringing together partners from across Europe to reflect on achievements, share lessons learned, and shape the future of the REMEDi4ALL value chain beyond the project’s lifetime.

Across two days of presentations and discussions, partners reviewed progress from the project’s core work, explored advances emerging from demonstrator projects, and examined how REMEDi4ALL’s tools, expertise and community can continue to support drug repurposing in the years ahead. A recurring theme throughout the meeting was sustainability, with dedicated sessions exploring opportunities to maintain the project’s impact within the wider European and global drug repurposing ecosystem.

Patient engagement remained a central focus of the programme. Consortium members heard first-hand experiences from patient representatives Alan Finglas (MSD Action Foundation) and Alessandra Tolaccia (OIFE) involved in REMEDi4ALL demonstrator projects and reflected on the value of meaningful patient involvement across the drug repurposing pathway. The meeting also highlighted progress in patient-centred clinical trial design, training activities and the growing REMEDi4ALL educational portfolio.

Scientific sessions showcased advances from the project’s discovery and preclinical work packages, including support provided to onboarded user projects and demonstrators. Partners also shared updates on ongoing clinical, policy, funding and internationalisation activities, illustrating the breadth of expertise that the REMEDi4ALL community brings to support the entire drug repurposing pathway.

Reflecting on the consortium’s progress, participants emphasised the importance of preserving the knowledge, resources and networks developed throughout the project. Dedicated breakout discussions explored how REMEDi4ALL’s expertise, decision-support approaches and community assets can continue to benefit future drug repurposing initiatives beyond the project’s formal end.

As REMEDi4ALL enters its final year, GAM#5 allowed partners to reflect on what has been achieved and outline and prioritise remaining work. By bringing together scientific excellence, patient perspectives, innovative funding approaches and international collaboration, the consortium reaffirmed its ambition to strengthen the future of drug repurposing and maximise its impact for patients across Europe and beyond.
